On the AmPm Podcast, Manny Coats discusses with Kevin King, “Amazon Bans Review Services.”
Amazon has recently given their terms of service a major update. The eCommerce giant is now prohibiting incentivized reviews, except those acquired through Amazon’s new review program, Vine, which operates off of Vender Central only.
Pricing packages start at $2,500, making it a very expensive program. You can no longer use a third party to offer discounted or free products in exchange for reviews. You can still discount your products, as long as you are not doing so in exchange for reviews.
“I’ve used some of these services in the past, but I wouldn’t touch them with a ten foot pole now…I would not start anything new.”
If you have anything ordered, cancel it. Don’t freak out if you still have some incentivized reviews trickling in, but it’s definitely time to stop using them. It’s not the end of the world. Amazon is just trying to clean things up. It’s a big change, but the sky is definitely not falling. If you want to avoid suspension, it’s time to give it up.
Let’s Discuss: Have you used review services and does this change affect your business?
